The first Dahomey Series event brings music, fashion, live art, ceremony, and visual storytelling into the same room at Palazzo Permanens.
At midnight, 15 models take over the room for a one-hour choreography by THE HORN CALL. At its center is a Dahomey Series ceremony built around one woman moving through a rank. The horn, the music, and the watching room all become part of the performance.
The fashion presentation is curated by Mr. Omotunde, a name connected to some of the earliest West African cultural events in Hungary. He brings West African designer pieces and directly sourced objects into the procession.
The night opens with DJ Viv, followed by DJ Peksaa & DJ Kofi. Blackcell headlines with live sax, and DJ Entyce closes.
VJs transform the main room with references to Abomey, contemporary West African women, buffalo herds, and documentary footage. Two painters create work live beside the dancefloor, while an exhibition remains open throughout the night in the second room.
